Great Floats at a Great Price

What's better than a frosty A&W Root Beer Float? How about a frosty A&W Root Beer Float for only 99 cents? Through May 29, you can purchase a famous A&W Root Beer Float for only 99 cents (plus tax) at any participating A&W® All American Food® Restaurant.

Second Annual Root Beer Float Day

Okay, there may be one thing better than a frosty A&W Root Beer Float for only 99 cents: a frosty A&W Root Beer Float for free.

On Monday, June 20, A&W Restaurants across the country will be celebrating our second annual Free Float Day. Stop by your favorite A&W Restaurant, order anything (really, anything at all) and you'll get a free regular A&W Root Beer Float (at participating locations). It's as simple as that.

Last year's first annual Float Day was a tremendous success. In fact, it was so much fun, we brought it back for a return engagement. Be sure to mark Monday, June 20 on your calendar.

And watch your hometown newspaper a few days before Root Beer Float Day for great coupon offers from A&W Restaurants. (The flyer will be easy to spot; it looks like a giant Root Beer Float.)

You Asked for Them, You Got Them

A&W limited-edition collectible mugs will again be available this summer. The 2005 version of the famous A&W icon features a great, full-color rendering of the Great Root Bear® (blush) and is embossed with the year. A limited number were produced and they will not be re-issued, so don't miss out.

Be sure to visit your hometown A&W Restaurant and pick up your collectible mug this summer. Mugs should be available in our restaurants by early July.

If you don't live near an A&W restaurant, visit www.awrestaurants.com for information on how to order your collectible mug. Information will be included in the "merchandise" section of the web page beginning in July.

Thanks for the Memories

A&W has been making memories for 86 years. This summer, we'd like to hear about your favorite A&W memory.

Was your first date with your future spouse at an A&W drive-in? Was your first job working as a carhop at the A&W? Ever cruised an A&W before?

Send the Great Root Bear an e-mail by May 30 with your favorite A&W memory and you might win a great prize. The Bear will pick his favorite story, and we'll publish it in this newsletter and on the A&W web site.

If you're the author of the Bear's favorite A&W memory, we'll send you a great A&W prize pack, including a t-shirt, hat, $25 in A&W gift certificates and a brand new 2005 limited-edition A&W Root Beer Mug! So, what are you waiting for? Start writing.

Totally AWsome, Dude

We put the "A&W" in "AWsome." Beginning May 30, you can enjoy an "AWsome Combo" at your hometown A&W Restaurant -- a Deluxe Bacon Cheeseburger, an ice-cold A&W Root Beer, and your choice of our signature side items: onion rings or chili cheese fries. All that Hometown goodness for only $4.99. (Pricing and participation may vary by location; tax extra.)

Kick off the summer with an "AWsome Combo" from A&W. And stop by for another one sometime soon. This great offer is available through Aug. 28, so you have practically the entire summer to enjoy it!

And The Winners Are…

Congratulations to the hundreds of A&W customers who won Free Cheese Curds for a Year in our recent sweepstakes drawing. Each participating restaurant picked a hometown winner, and we selected another winner from among the thousands of entries we received at www.curdcrazy.com.

Our web winner was Lynne Monticello of Glen Ellyn, Ill., who originally hails from Wisconsin, home of the Cheese Curd!

Visit www.curdcrazy.com for more information on our Curiously Delicious™ Cheese Curds, and download a coupon for an order of Cheese Curds for only $1.99 (plus tax) (And while you're there, be sure to play the Curiously Addictive internet game, "Udder Chaos.")

Cruisers of the Month

In Boardman, Ohio, Friday night is "Cruise Night" at A&W. And Franchisee Rick Thompson does Cruise Night in a big way.

Thompson reports he usually has 500 cruisers at his restaurant on Friday nights -- one of the Top 10 cruises in the U.S. If you're within driving distance of the Boardman, Ohio, A&W, you might want to make a road trip to show off your hot rod. All cruises are from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m., and a D.J. is on hand most nights to provide the tunes.

Here's what's coming up in June:
Friday, June 3: Street Rod Night
Friday, June 10: Mopar Night
Friday, June 17: PT Cruiser Night and the Ultimate Racing Experience
(Expert Racers drive 1:64-scale cars; bring your own cars)
Friday, July 24: Ford Motor Night, featuring Lincoln and Mercury

Tell them the Great Root Bear sent you!
